American-Made Rugs in Westlake Village

Many decades ago in Troy, North Carolina, A. Leon Capel ventured into a business that would become America’s oldest and largest importer and manufacturer of area rugs. In 1917, after Henry Ford invented the tractor, he fashioned the raw material from his Gee-Haw plow line company into braids and sewed them into spirals to make reversible braided rugs. Mules and the plow lines that used to steer them were obsolete, but as sales grew, Leon soon found out that nearly every family could use a good braid rug.
